Many insurance companies will reduce your premium if you take and pass the Pass Plus test.
Pass Plus is a training course specifically aimed at new drivers. Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of passing their test due to a lack of driving experience - this is where Pass Plus comes in!
The course aims to build upon your newly acquired driving skills and knowledge. When you have successfully completed the course, you are advised to check available discounts offered by the insurance companies taking part in the scheme.
The amount you save will depend on the company you choose, you may even save more than you paid for the course. For more information on Pass Plus please visit the website.

Make sure you claim your driving test pass...
Claim your driving test pass within 2 years or you will have to take the test again! Once you have passed your driving test (both theory and practical), the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will need to be told. Whether it's for a car, motorcycle, lorry or bus you must exchange your test pass certificate within two years of passing your test.
If you don't claim your test pass within two years of the date of your test, the driving entitlement will be lost. You'll have to take and pass both parts of the driving test again for that category of vehicle if you wish to have it included on your driving licence. For more information visit the website.

How to manage your money
Learning to manage your money is an essential skill to have now and in the future. If you start to do this before your finances become too complicated you can establish good habits for later.
To prepare a budget you need to work out what you will need, how much it will be, and how you will pay for it. When you are younger, your income will mainly be pocket money, presents, savings and possibly income from a job. If you stay in education or training, you may also be entitled to grants, bursaries, sponsorship, or scholarships.
You then need to decide what you will need to spend. To do this you must add up all the essential costs. Then take away your essential costs from your income so can see how much you have left over for other things like clothes/shoes, toiletries, music/films, social activities.
As well as making a budget it is also important to check it from time to time. Did your estimates of what you would need to spend work out. Have you had a pay rise or an increase in a grant? Don't just make your budget and never look at it again. This is where a Y Cash Card can be useful, as it allows you to keep track of what you spend.

Debt management
It is easy to spend money quickly and much harder to pay it off. A debt created from an overdraft or credit card can take months or even years to pay off, so imagine an overdraft, loan, and debts from a credit card and half a dozen store cards.
Remember, with a Y Cash Card there is no credit. You can only spend what you load or what you save, you cannot go overdrawn or get into debt with the Y Cash Card. You may have to wait a bit longer before you can buy something, but this may be safer in the long run.
If you do run into problems, try to work out what you can live without or what you can cut back on so that you make savings and avoid getting into too much debt. Many people believe that taking out yet another loan to pay off previous debts will help, but this can make matters worse as you could end up paying more interest on the new loan.
